'EMBRACE' documentary and 'Bridge The Gap' fundraiser
Thu. 27 October 2016, 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm NZDT
"Body confidence does not come from trying to achieve 'the perfect body'. It comes from embracing the one you've already got."
-Taryn Brumfitt, Founder of the Body Image Movement
This is one of the key messages of Embrace, a documentary recently screened at film festivals across the world. The film addresses how and why negative body image has become such a global epidemic, its potentially devastating effects, and practical steps women can take to love their own bodies and have a brighter future.
A funny, touching, at times gut wrenching but above all, life changing documentary, the heart of Embrace is Taryns' story. How she went from a body hater to a body lover. From being devastated by her perceived ugliness, to proudly posing nude for the whole world to see.
Join us for pre-show nibbles and mingling, with fantastic spot-prizes from local businesses, for an evening of self-empowerment and acceptance as we share Taryns' journey and make it our own.
All ticket proceeds will be donated to the 'Bridge The Gap Project', an inspiring organisation on a mission to assist in the healing, personal development and confidence-building of young people in the wider community.
You can find more information about this organisation and the exceptional work they do to assist, inspire and educate youth at bridgethegapproject.co.nz
