Event description

Description

The World Economic Forum has identified Emotional Intelligence in the Top 10 essential workplace skills required 2020 and beyond. If you would like to future-proof your career and learn how you can apply emotional intelligence in the workplace, join us for a series of modules designed to enhance your well-being, performance, and leadership effectiveness.

Emotional Intelligence Enhancement Program: This is module two of a four learning module program - each designed for delivery in a face-to-face 3-hour session. Between each session, participants complete on-the-job learning activities to practice and reinforce their learning. In addition, participants have the opportunity to complete a brief emotional intelligence survey to provide them with insight into how well they believe they demonstrate emotionally intelligent workplace behaviours in comparison to others. Price listed is per module. Whilst it is possible to sign-up for specific modules of interest, our experience shows that participants who attend the end-to-end program obtain a greater depth of learning and application. Only Module one is available to purchase at this time.

Facilitator: Simon Miller, South Island Manager, OPRA Psychology Group.

Simon works with leaders and individuals to enhance self-awareness, empathy, authenticity, and resilience. He is an accredited Emotional Intelligence master coach and facilitator; specialising in coaching and development experiences that shift mindsets and support personal transformation. Simon holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business and Administration and is in the final stages of a Masters of Business Studies from Massey University. Alongside this, he has worked across a range of industries for 20+ years in the fields of organisational development, training, and change management.

Module Two: Enhancing Behavioural Agility - 26th Feb 2019

Awareness of oneself and others, appreciation of differences and understanding different views of the world is essential to effective teamwork and collaboration. This session utilises personality, values and belief models to enhance behavioural agility and improve understanding of:

1. Differences in interpersonal styles and how to interact best with others on that basis.

2. The types of information different people pay attention to and how this helps and limits our interpretation of events.

3. Differences in communication and decision-making preferences and the pros and cons of each.

Participants identify the way they and others respond to events, their thoughts, feelings and behaviours; and how to adjust behaviour to best fit with different people and situations.

If you wish to purchase module three, please scroll to the bottom of this page to view.

Module Three: Leading with Authenticity - 19th March 2019

Authenticity - without it trust, healthy confrontation, and robust debate are simply not possible. In this session participants:

1. Explore the benefits and costs of being guarded or blunt with one's own thoughts, feelings, and opinions.

2. Evaluate the power of vulnerability and healthy confrontation.

3. Learn and apply techniques for authentically and effectively expressing thoughts, feelings, and opinions.

Participants identify a difficult discussion they would benefit from having, like providing performance feedback to a colleague or direct report. After the session participants have the discussion, applying the tools and techniques covered.

Module Four: Building Resilience - 9th April 2019

Productive emotions = productive results! So how do you maximise and maintain productive emotions and best deal with and minimise unproductive ones? In this session participants:

1. Explore four categories of proactive emotional management techniques ( Cognitive, Relational, Physiological and Environmental) and identify ones they can use to build their personal resilience.

2. Learn a reactive technique they can implement to help them effectively respond to strong emotions when they arise.

3. Practice applying a model designed to help others find the best possible response to make in challenging situations.

Following the session participants put into practice the resilience techniques covered and apply the emotional influencing technique to help build positive emotions that drive high performance.
