Event description

Description

What is a CNC router?

A CNC router is a computer-controlled machine for cutting and routing in 3d space. It is used to cut and shape 3d objects out of a hard block material. It is an example of subtractive manufacturing.

What can you do with it?

A CNC router can be used for creating more durable prototypes and models out of wood, foam, and MDF. CNC routers machine objects to a very high degree of finishing, meaning items will be true to form. This will typically be used when the user wishes to produce items that are more durable, and of a higher quality than 3d printing.

How to get started…

You need to be an Unleash Space members to use the Create and Maker Space, so if you haven’t already, sign up today! Once a member, complete our CNC router training session, download the user guide and then you’re all set to use it during scheduled studio time.
