Emerging Spatial Professionals (ESP) are excited to invite you to a special networking event in Christchurch on September 15! With many Spatial Professionals gathering for NZEUC at Te Pae Convention Centre, we’re taking this opportunity to connect students and early-career professionals with experienced members of our industry.

This event also marks ESP’s 10-year anniversary, so come celebrate with us! Join us from 6:30pm for an evening of meaningful connections, networking, and good vibes. There will be exciting presentations from industry speakers:


  • Brendon Edge - Director of Trimble’s Geospatial segment Support and Market Acceptance teams. The responsibilities of those teams include customer and reseller support, reseller training and pre-release product testing. Brendon studied Geography and Geology at Otago University prior to starting at Trimble in 2001. Brendon has had a variety of roles at Trimble after starting in Product management.
  • Myles Sutherland - Entrepreneur in the area of AI- native reality capture. He is the Founder and Managing Director of GeoCam. Myles is a kiwi based in Los Angeles and a is graduate of the University of Canterbury.
  • Kirsten Fryer - Decades of experience working in the geospatial industry. She has been part of teams that have been awarded many industry awards, including for one of the largest ever geospatial projects undertaken in New Zealand, Auckland Council’s Geospatial Future Modes of Operation Project and more recently the 2024 NZ Spatial Excellence Award for Environment and Sustainability, see: https://www.spatialsource.com.au/nz-spatial-excellence-awards-recipients-announced/ . Kirsten works for Kāinga Ora where she is passionate about using geospatial technology to deliver better outcomes for society and the environment.

Everyone is invited, you don't need to be attending the NZEUC Conference to attend this event. Please register for a free ticket for venue capacity purposes. We can't wait to see you there!

📍Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre - Room Dobson 3&4 - enter through the main entrance on Oxford Terrace (See map below)



The event will be held in Dobson 3&4 (see map below), and we will be meeting in Dobson Foyer (See map below) before doors open. We will begin meeting in the foyer at 6:15pm, the event starts at 6:30pm on the dot. Please make sure you arrive early to ensure you dont miss out on any of it.

Important Notice for Non-NZEUC Attendees
If you’re attending the Emerging Spatial Professionals event but not the NZ Esri User Conference (NZEUC), please note that the main doors to Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre will open for you at 6:15 PM.
There may be a security guard at the entrance — simply let them know you’re attending the Emerging Spatial Professionals function, and they’ll allow you through. As the NZEUC and potentially other functions will be happening at the same time, it’s important to clearly mention our event name to avoid any confusion or misdirection.
If you need help finding the room, staff at the reception desk will be available to assist — just be sure to ask for the Emerging Spatial Professionals event.
