Event description
Duane Major will host a conversation on the state of housing in our nation and where God is at work, and looking forward to what's next.

About this event

Listen:

As we follow Jesus into our neighbourhoods, we will inevitably run up against the conversation of housing. Where and how we live matters. It affects our wellbeing. Who we interact with. How we spend our money. How we do hospitality. And so much more. God cares about housing.

Come and join Duane as he hosts a kōrero on accomodation. It's a topic he's very passionate about. He'll share where his passion started, some Biblical themes around housing and accomodation, and a number of stories from around South West Baptist Church's context.

There'll be a chance to reflect on the current state of housing. And to ask the question - how does God long to transform us and the state of our housing?

Tickets Required

Due to the venue health and safety requirements, there are only 80 tickets available for this session, and only people holding tickets will be allowed entry on the night. Please select multiple tickets if you would like to bring a guest.

Who we are: South West Baptist Church

South West Baptist Church is a church on a journey towards becoming a more Presence Based Church. This means we are making slow and deliberate movements towards solidarity with a people and a place.

Our commitment to this journey is guided by our timeless kingdom vision focused on Redemptive Communities and Lifelong Followers and a sense that we are responding to where the Holy Spirit is at work bringing new life and raising up a new way of living out our redemptive life.

Wānanga Week 2021

The purpose of Wānanga Week is to help us consider how we – the church, the body of Jesus – respond to the world around us and journey together towards kingdom transformation in the places we live.

We believe God is calling us to become more place-based, to take steps towards becoming a more Presence Based Church, individually and collectively.

Wānanga Week is a space to reflect on this call – and to help us find our feet within the story of what Jesus is doing in our neighbourhoods. Together we’ll explore some of the ideas and experiences of what it means to be a Presence Based Church.

Throughout the week there’ll be many different ways to connect in. We’ll be sharing kai in neighbourhoods, swapping stories, and creating space to kōrero about different topics facing our world and how we can respond.

Organiser Presence Based Church

Organiser of EVENING: God and Real Estate

We're a slow and deliberate movement towards solidarity with a people and a place.

We're rediscovering the importance of place for belonging.

We're individuals, groups and churches on a journey towards becoming more presence based.

We're following Jesus into the places we live.

We want to see kingdom transformation for Aotearoa and to the ends of the earth.

And we’re better when we do this journey together. So we gather to learn, connect and share. You'll find some of our events here.
