Feels Like Home - Songs of Place, Belonging, and Connection
In this deeply personal program, Emily Mwila—a New Zealand-born soprano of European and Zambian heritage & now based in the U.S at the Chicago Lyric Opera Company, shares music that reflects her adopted home, including spirituals, musical theatre, and jazz.
Michael Hill Emerging Artist Austin Haynes (countertenor) explores the sounds of home through powerful Māori solos and duets, including the beloved Hine e Hine and rarely heard Māori art songs. His solo of Puccini in Māori translation is a unique cultural bridge between tradition and opera. Together, Emily and Austin offer a heartfelt evening where home is not just a place, but a feeling carried in song.
Perfect for a cozy Sunday afternoon mothers day treat.
