About this Event

Agritech Seminar Series

These free seminars, organised by Callaghan Innovation with support from NZTE, are designed for agriculture businesses, investors and farmers. All seminars will be held in the International Business Centre.

Sustainable farming practices: managing on-farm nutrients

  • Thursday 13 June, 9.30am-10.30am

Sustainable farming practices are critical to New Zealand’s agricultural future. Government is committed to supporting sustainable farming and is establishing dedicated funds to support innovative solutions.

Agritech innovations are being used to address effluent management, reduce GHG emissions from livestock, and provide better pastoral management and reliable on-farm monitoring techniques.

This seminar will be a showcase of some of the companies working in this space and the technology being developed to assist with on-farm nutrient management. This tech can help farmers meet regulatory requirements and make better use of resources for greater productivity and returns.

There will be short presentations by 6 to 8 organisations followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.

How robotics and automation can boost productivity

Wednesday 12 June, 10.30am-11.30am

Labour shortages and reduced productivity are an ongoing challenge for the agricultural industry. Robotics and automation offer major opportunities for farming, with the potential to complete repetitive on-farm tasks, freeing up skilled farmworkers.

This seminar will showcase some of these technologies – including autonomous robots, software and AI - and how they’re being used to increase farm productivity. There will be short presentations by 6 to 8 organisations that will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.

The power of connected farms: Satellite, UAVs and IoT Technology

Thursday 13 June, 3.00pm-4.00pm

New technologies are being used to enable better, more accurate on-farm monitoring and management, giving farmers the ability to make informed decisions about land and stock, and increase productivity.

Agritech companies are using satellite technology to drive smart farm applications, delivering innovations in automated feeding systems, virtual fencing and on-farm management systems.

This seminar showcases some of the products and services using satellite connectivity and introduces the NZ Aerospace Challenge looking at how space-based data could revolutionise the agritech sector. There will be short presentations by 6 to 8 organisations followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.
