FUTUNA LECTURE SERIES 2022 - CHRISTCHURCH

About this event

As the organiser of this popular annual event, The Friends of Futuna Charitable Trust are keen for the Futuna Lecture Series to proceed as an in-person event. A great deal of time has been invested in this event since its inception in 2011 and we all deserve to continue to benefit from that. A special effort has been made to bring attendees a live event rather than a screen based interaction.

This year, for the first time since its inception, attendance at the 2022 Futuna Lecture Series is to be on a koha/donation basis. We do have a free ticket type but if you would like to make a koha/donation, please register using the ticket types of $10, $15, $20 or $25. The koha/donation ticket type will count as your ticket to the event. Ticketing and GST fees will be absorbed by the Trust.

MICHAEL O'SULLIVAN - B/0S ARCHITECTURE - FUTUNA LECTURER 2022

We are very pleased to have our very own homegrown architect Michael O’Sullivan of B/OS Architecture as the Futuna Guest Lecturer for 2022.

Michael comes from a unique background and set of experiences and has developed an approach to his architecture that is distinctive, pragmatic and beautiful in its resolution and execution. His use of materials is inventive and surprising and Michael himself has categorised the outcomes as “odd”.

He will talk about the work of B/OS Architecture and look at recent, current and future projects as he describes the processes of designing, drawing, and delivering the unique architectural experiences, no doubt with generous sprinklings of his personal architectural philosophy and learnings to date.

Michael has won the Sir Ian Athfield Architecture Award for Housing twice, first for a studio in Lyttleton (2015) and, secondly, for additions to an existing state house (2020) also in Lyttleton. In 2011 he won Home of the Year for a bach at Kare Kare Beach.

There will be 15 Design CPD points available for NZ registered architects attending the event.

BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL TO ATTEND THIS EVENT

Our sponsors, Dulux NZ, Metalcraft Roofing, Plytech, APL, Warren Trust and the Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington NZIA branches, have been unanimous in continuing their support for the Futuna Lecture Series 2022. This vote of confidence in these uncertain times is very much appreciated. The Trust hopes that NZ architects, graduates, students and interested members of the public will be able to attend this event and support the Trust in its work.

The Futuna Trust is a completely voluntary organisation and all funds raised from the Futuna Lecture Series go towards the ongoing care, maintenance and operation of Futuna Chapel and also to support various initiatives undertaken by the Trust.

Nga mihi.
