Event description
It's time to look to the future and examine how we can strengthen our economic advice to the government.

About this event

GEN is pleased to be hosting an informal networking event, previously advertised to take place in September after our AGM, on the "Economics of the Future". Joining us for this event are our guest speakers Dominick Stephens, Deputy Secretary, Chief Economic Adviser at The Treasury and Donna Purdue, Chief Economist at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.

As a profession, we’re turning our eyes to the future and examining how we can strengthen our longer-term economic advice to government. Dominick will talk to the long-term drivers the Treasury is focussing on, including in those explored in their combined Long-Term Fiscal Statement and Long-Term Insights Briefing. Donna will talk about new economic thinking and the work on ‘future challenges’ underway at MBIE. Their discussion will give attendees an interesting perspective on longer-term thinking using both macro and micro lenses.

This event will start at 5.30pm and is open to GEN members and non-members.

Drinks and light refreshments will be provided.

We look forward to seeing you there.
