GENE GENIE
It’s just a matter of time until we decipher the whole human genome and let the genie out of the bottle. BBC 4 science presenter and geneticist Dr Adam Rutherford looks at the implications for sex, paternity, medicine, weight control, food, species restoration and perhaps even human survival. Gene Genie is a series of live panel discussions in Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Tauranga and Auckland and will be recorded for broadcast on RNZ National.

Dr Adam Rutherford
Presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Inside Science, Adam Rutherford has explored possible answers to our biggest scientific questions. With a background in genetics and evolutionary biology, he has created several BBC TV series and advised movie-makers and musician Björk. His book Creation: The Origin of Life/The Future of Life was shortlisted for the Wellcome Trust Book Prize.
Adam Rutherford is brought to New Zealand by the New Zealand Festival and presented in partnership between Royal Society of New Zealand, Dodd-Walls Centre, Genetics Otago, MedTech CoRE, NZ Genomics Ltd, and Te Pūnaha Matatini.
