Gift to the Gulf Session 1 - Wonders of the Gulf
Event Information
About this Event
What is your gift to the Hauraki Gulf? What can you give, big or small, to help restore the waters that make New Zealand’s largest city so special?
Join experts and enthusiasts for a unique four day online event series. Together, we take an in-depth look at the wonders of the Hauraki Gulf – Tikapa Moana/Te Moananui-a-Toi and the efforts to restore her mauri, life giving essence.
In our first session we are joined by Dan Hikuroa, senior lecturer in Maori Studies at The University of Auckland; Chlöe Swarbrick, the newly appointed MP for Auckland Central; as well as James Frankham, publisher and director of New Zealand Geographic. Together with Andy Kenworthy from the Sustainable Business Network they’ll analyse and discuss cultural, political and ecological perspectives on the health and future of the Hauraki Gulf. We’ll be asking you what you find wonderful about the Gulf, and what you would like to do to protect and restore it.
Hosted by The Sustainable Business Network, Gift for the Gulf celebrates 2020 as the 20th Anniversary of the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park. You can take part online with questions and answer sessions and the opportunity to post your own comments and ideas. And you can give your own gift to the Gulf through a range of suggested activations, and be in to win a fantastic range of prizes* and Gulf experiences.
*Huge thanks to our prize sponsors.
