These unique prizes encourage our voice students to perform musical theatre repertoire and was established in 2014 by the friends and family of Graham Allen.
Graham Allen spent a large part of his life either singing in, directing or producing (and certainly attending) a huge number of musical shows, operas and theatre productions. He was always particularly keen to encourage young singers as he recognised the difficulty of being able to progress in this chosen field.
Graham lost a brave fight with cancer, in November 2012 and this prize has been set up in his memory to ensure that his name lives on, in the genre to which he gave so much and loved so absolutely.
The prize is currently awarded to students studying this genre at the School of Music, University of Auckland and was first competed for in 2014.
Graham spent much of his life encouraging young singers. This evening is a gala performance open to the public and celebrating his passion for musical theatre.
The venue is 250-117 (Music Theatre)
