Description

Seed story

The October Green Movie is Seed, a documentary that looks at seed preservation attempts and prospects of success in the 21st Century.

It is on at the Old Stone Butter Factory on Wednesday October 25 at 6.30pm.

Few things on Earth are as miraculous and vital as seeds -- worshipped and treasured since the dawn of humankind. This documentary follows passionate seed keepers who are protecting a 12,000 year-old food legacy.

In the last century, 94 seed varieties have disappeared. A cadre of 10 agrichemical companies, including Syngenta, Bayer, and Monsanto, controls over two-thirds of the global seed market, reaping unprecedented profits.

The 2016 documentary looks at how farmers and others are battling to defend the future of our food.

Food is available at the venue, and koha to cover screening costs is appreciated.

Educational movies are held here each month. Sometimes they are about the environment, others are about animals or people or food or society etc etc. They are ALWAYS informative and there are always people to talk with about the issues raised.

Green Movies show us how we can all make an impact on our planet and society.
