By Te Kākano Aotearoa Trust

Overview

In this workshop we'll cover how to harvest harakeke/flax respectfully and the weaving technique to make a simple plant guard.

Our location is at Te Kākano Community nursery, just before our end of year celebration. You are welcome to stay on and join us.

To access the nursery

From Waterfall Creek
From the Wānaka-Mt Aspiring Rd, turn right onto Ruby Island Rd. Park at the lower Waterfall Creek car park by the lakeside track then head back towards Wānaka along Roys Bay West via the Glendhu Bay Track. At the far end of the QEII covenant kānuka area, go over the stile and follow signs up to the nursery (10 min walk).

By Bike/Foot – along the Glendhu Bay/Roys Bay Track from Wānaka
From Wānaka, bike or walk along Roys Bay West via the Glendhu Bay Track. After passing Edgewater Hotel and Rippon vineyard on the left, go over the stile and follow signs up to the nursery.

If walking or biking to the nursery is not an option for you, we can organise a drive-in via Rippon Vineyard, so please email me to access the private road with a gate code.
