Harakeke Wānanga - Flax weaving for beginners

About this Event
This one-day workshop at Hakatere Marae will be facilitated by Harakeke weaver Vicky King and cover an introduction to harakeke (flax), harvesting and preparing it for weaving, also tikanga.
Once preparation of the flax is complete participants will weave a pop-up kete.
Participants are to bring their lunch with them.
Please note: tikanga applies so no weaving for those who are pregnant or have their period at the time of the wananga.
This event is part of the Mid Canterbury TimeBank Learning Exchange Term 1 programme and is open to anyone. Please note this same workshop is being run on Thursday 25th February and another beginner's wānanga will be held on the 26th February.
There are only 12 places each day so get in quick to get your ticket. There is a follow up 2 day course for taking weaving to the next level March 19-20.
