Harakeke Wānanga - Intermediate Level

About this event
This wananga is over two days, 9am - 5pm both days and is for intermediate level weavers. It will be held at Hakatere Marae.
During the 2 day wananga harakeke weaver Vicky King will explain treatment and process options for harakeke and teach you how to weave a pīkau (backpack) or a shopping kete (basket).
Participants will need to cut and prepare their flax prior to the wānanga. If you are in/ near Ashburton, there is a possibility of getting together to do this the day or so before, weather permitting. Specifics of what to prepare and bring will be provided after you've registered/ closer to the time.
Participants are to bring their lunch with them both days. Please note vaccination passes are required under Red according to Hakatere Marae policy.
Please note: tikanga applies so no weaving for those who are pregnant or have their period at the time of the wananga.
