About this event

This Symposium is an invite-only event for Challenge-funded researchers.

A Better Start National Science Challenge’s multi-disciplinary teams of researchers will share the latest developments in their major research projects, aimed at addressing the serious health and wellbeing issues faced by young New Zealanders.

A Better Start’s mission is to find practical, evidence-based solutions that make a measurable difference for our tamariki – helping them to have a healthy weight, be confident at reading and learning, and have good mental health.

Keynote Speaker: Dr Robyn Mildon

Refreshments and lunch will be served.

The aim of the Better Start Challenge is to improve the potential for young New Zealanders to have healthy and successful lives. We are more than 150 researchers delivering excellent science to give our tamariki a better start in life. While we come from many different disciplines and organisations, we are united in our commitmentOur researchers share a collaborative approach and through the He Awa Whiria (braided rivers) model weave together knowledge from differing sources that flow together to progress the wellbeing of tamariki.
