About this event

Health Promotion: The Next Step Webishop image

Background

In Aotearoa New Zealand, health promotion is based on the Ottawa Charter and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Therefore, in order for health organisations and their health promotion staff, and other health workers, to be effective, their capacity to apply Te Tiriti should be built and enhanced on an on-going basis.

Based on research and professional experience, this webishop will share competencies – knowledge, skills and qualities – that will help you and your team build your Te Tiriti competencies.

Speakers

Trevor Simpson, Chief Maori Advisor, PHARMAC, and former Deputy Executive Director of the Health Promotion Forum of New Zealand

Dr Heather Came-Friar, Head of Department, Public Health, Auckland University of Technology

Sione Tu’itahi, Executive Director, Health Promotion Forum of New Zealand

Learning outcomes

As a result of participating, you will:

• Enhance your understanding of Te Tiriti and health promotion

• Understand some practical tools that you can apply at your work place

• Build your health promotion competencies based on Te Tiriti
