Hear the Roar Aotearoa - Ōtautahi/Christchurch
Hear the Roar is a conference based on the book The Roar Behind the Silence: Why kindness, compassion and respect matter in maternity care.
This cutting-edge book addresses the impact of a fear and blame culture within maternity care on both staff and those using the service. Our inspirational speakers will use their knowledge and experience to share positive and proactive approaches to encourage us to look at our own cultures of care and to encourage and nurture change.
We are extremely excited to have the co-editors of this book, Sheena Byrom and Professor Soo Downe visit Aotearoa/New Zealand from the UK to present at this event. Just as exciting is the fact that they will be joined by Dr Robin Youngson, Dr Alison Barrett and Kelly Tikao.
Come and be part of this international movement bringing together midwives, doctors, consumers and others, all sharing the goal of breaking the silence around what’s happening everywhere in maternity care. Together we’ll share information, inspiration and practical suggestions to support each other. Together we can work to provide the kind and compassionate care maternity workers want to provide and birthing communities deserve to receive.
