Shakespeare Regional Park is the most visited and accessible open sanctuary integrating conservation, recreation and farming in the Auckland Region. It provides a pest free habitat and a safe home for wildlife.
Plan for the day
Meeting place: Army Bay carpark 1428-1468, Whangaparaoa Road, Army Bay, Auckland 0930 https://goo.gl/maps/HooMhGeyTD8euSSs9
Meeting time: 9:00 am
Distance: about 12km
Duration: About 5 hours including quick breaks & a good lunch stop
Difficulty: Moderate (3 on a 1-5 scale with 5 being advanced/expert). Requires moderate level of fitness.

Walk description
The plan is to start from the Army Bay carpark and link up Heritage Trail, Lookout Track and Tiritiri Track to create a big loop. We will have an early lunch (and maybe a swim) at the Te Haruhi Bay. A Mr. Whippy Ice Cream van will meet us at that point for a little cold treat, so bring some cash or your card. After lunch, we will walk back to our cars.
Transport
Car pool fuel share is $15 cash, please pay directly to the driver. If you need a ride or are willing to give a ride, please comment below and indicate your location/space available.
Cost
This is a free hike but a gold coin donation towards operating costs will be highly appreciated.
What to bring/wear:
- NO COTTON WEAR - jeans/denims/shirts/jumper please
- Trainers or a good pair of hiking shoes if it has been raining
- Snacks, packed lunch, food to share and at least 2L drink
- Personal FIRST AID KIT + medication
- clothing suitable for Auckland summer
- Sun and rain protection
