The Hira vision

• A secure, carefully controlled digital ecosystem enabling vendors to build apps for healthcare consumers, whānau and providers, to help people manage their own health.

• A personal health record - an app/website allowing healthcare consumers/whānau to see their health information in one place and update some of it

• A platform allowing healthcare providers to access and update patient data held in different places

Purpose of the workshops

The workshops are an opportunity for digital health suppliers to provide suggestions and feedback on the Hira roadmap/plan to the end of tranche one (June 2024), and beyond. We are looking for actionable and specific feedback. The Hira Programme is seeking an ongoing partnership with suppliers, as we work toward the goal of connecting and improving access to health information, to support people to manage their own health.

How is this different to previous Hira workshops?

Earlier workshops have focused on higher-level concepts related to Hira. The programme is now in delivery mode, which is a new phase, and follows a reset of the Hira Programme. The roadmap sets out specific tasks for delivery in tranche one.

While delivery for the next quarter of tranche one is already in train, there are opportunities to shape future delivery. The Hira team would like to hear from digital health suppliers about where you think the roadmap has it right; what are the gaps; do you agree with the priorities; how could you contribute; and what could be done better or differently?

Focus of the workshops

A full programme is being developed. It will include:

• Welcome from the Hira Programme and the Digital Health Association

• Setting the scene – the Hira reset, Hira vision, overview of the Hira tranche one roadmap

• Breakout groups discussing the following topics:

o Current Hira plans for inter-operability

o Data and channels

o Services for healthcare consumers, community and whānau

o Services for healthcare providers

• Breakout groups report back/further discussion with whole group

• Next steps and close

In the breakout groups, attendees will be asked for their views on the following (or similar):

• Where they think the Hira roadmap has it right?

• What are the gaps?

• Do tasks have the right delivery priority?

• In relation to the roadmap, what could be done differently or better?

• Where do you think digital health suppliers can contribute to the tranche one programme?

• How culturally responsive are suppliers’ products and systems in the context of Te Pae Tata | Interim New Zealand Health Plan 2022.

There will also be a focus on thoughts and feedback related to different timeframes of the development of Hira:

• focus on the next six months

• focus to the end of tranche one (June 2024)

• focus beyond tranche one.

Each breakout group will be asked to provide short, action-focused feedback (no more than 3 to 5 key points), that will then be reflected back to the main group. This feedback will form the basis for the summary discussion at the end of the day.

Your feedback is important

Suggestions and feedback from digital health suppliers are critical to the Hira Programme and will inform the approach and priorities. We hope to see you at the workshops.
