How To Live Rubbish-Free October
Sat 15 October 2016, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM NZDT
This workshop will combine Waveney’s personal experience of living rubbish-free, with larger conversations about ‘consumer power’ and practical tips around diverting waste streams using the four R’s - Reduce… Reuse… Rehome… Recycle.
Tutor: Waveney Warth
In 2008 Waveney and partner Matthew Luxon challenged themselves to send no rubbish to landfill from their Christchurch home. After a year they had sent just 2kgs of rubbish for collection (compared to the 1.5 tons sent by the average Kiwi couple over 12 months).
From doing 'the walk of shame' to the dustbin to buying in bulk, Waveney has oodles of practical advice and tips for anyone wanting to reduce (or wipe out!) their rubbish and deal better with waste at home.
Waveney is a Senior Community Advisor within the Waste Solutions team at Auckland Council.
