Operating a chainsaw is essential for tree work. But, it can be dangerous. The more you know, the safer you will stay.
About this event
Have you ever put off using a chainsaw due to safety concerns? Had a close call with injury? Had someone comment that your technique worries them? Struggled to sharpen your saw? Not know what you should look at for regular maintenance? Had to pay an expert to do something you wish you could do yourself?
If you've answered 'yes' to any of these, this is the workshop for you.
We have teamed up with Sebastian from MES, the Stihl agent in Otaki to bring a member only benefit of learning how to maintain your chainsaw and basic cutting techniques. Sebastian is passionate about sharing his knowledge of chainsaws, to help keep chainsaw users safer and knowledgeable about their machine.
This session is aimed at chainsaw owners who wish to learn or refresh how to maintain and use their chainsaws and is limited to 15 places.
This is an 'intro only' event with a focus on keeping you safe, and not a comprehensive training session.
Sebastian will cover:
Safety when working with chainsaws
Chainsaw engine maintenance
Chainsaw bar maintenance
Chainsaw chain sharpening
Basic cutting techniques
New products from Stihl
Bring your own chainsaw, sharpening tools and PPE, especially ear muffs. During the session you will have an opportunity to have expert guidance when sharpening the chain on your chainsaw.
Ticket cost is $10 per person (tree crop members only - no non-members, sorry) as numbers are limited.
