About this Event

Tena Koutou Katoa

We bring the love and greetings of the Saints here in the Kaikohe and Whangarei NZ Stake.

The Kaikohe and Whangarei Stakes extend a special invitation to those who wish to participate and to all members and friends of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to join in our 2021 Hui Tau / Restoration Event and Celebrations.

We invite all to come and to see.

This Hui Tau Event follows the 2019 Hui Tau, held in the Hawke’s Bay, where the translation of the Book of Mormon into Te Reo Maori was celebrated. We acknowledge the work of the Hastings Stake and people there who started movement of the latter day Hui Tau.

Historically (up until the 1950’s) the Hui Tau was a time of great gathering for members of the church and particularly for Maori who gathered in their thousands to fellowship, worship, and to be uplifted and edified.

The 2021 Hui Tau will be held in Kaikohe and is jointly hosted by the Kaikohe and Whangarei Stakes. We are hoping to achieve similar results in gathering Maori, members, and friends of the Church to this event.

The Hui Tau ihas been postponed due to Covid19 and is now scheduled for Easter Weekend 2021 - and will run from Friday to Sunday 2 April - 4 April 2021.

Our draft program for the weekend is as follows:

Friday afternoon / Evening - Marae Powhiri (welcome) & Main Powhiri / Welcome Social

Saturday daytime - Cultural events (inter-stake Kapa Haka performances and speech festival)

Saturday evening - Formal ball / meal

Sunday morning - Worship services

Sunday afternoon - Workshops / whakapapa / family history / temple / youth

Sunday evening - Devotional

The Kaikohe and Whangarei Stakes have formed a planning committee and greater detail and information will be following, via normal channels and also through social media channels.

It is our hope that many will plan, prepare and participate in the 2021 Hui Tau, through song, speech, culture and worship. We see the Hui Tau as a wonderful gathering opportunity, and as an opportunity to reach out and turn the hearts to the fathers.

It is an exciting time, and we look forward to your support and participation in the Hui Tau 2021.
