About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours 30 minutes

Valletta is the ‘City built by Gentlemen for Gentlemen’. The ‘Gentlemen’ who built the city are the Knights of St John also known as the Knights of Malta. This tour will narrate two hundred sixty-eight years of history, from 1530-1798, when Malta was the home of one of the oldest institutions of Western and Christian civilisation. During this tour we will see houses, churches and palaces of the Knights and we will also visit the amazing conventual church of the Order, St John’s Cathedral. In this baroque church we will also have the opportunity to see and admire two great masterpieces by Caravaggio: ‘The Beheading of St John’ and ‘St Jerome’. Not to be missed!
