Event description

The burden of neck pain is rising. In recent times, the term non-specific neck pain has been advocated in some quarters in recognition of the difficulty in diagnosing a distinct pathological lesion either in the clinical examination or with current imaging practices. In tandem, generic non-specific management approaches of advice and activity are appearing. In this webinar, it will be argued, based on extensive research, that any prospect of reducing the burden of neck pain for the individual patient requires patient centred, specific care whether the management is, manipulative therapy, therapeutic exercise, education, or behaviour modification.

Professor Gwen Jull is an Emeritus Professor in Physiotherapy at the University of Queensland, Australia and continues her teaching, clinical, and research interests in the diagnosis and management of neck pain disorders. Her particular interests are in cervicogenic headache, whiplash associated disorders, manipulative therapy, and quantifying the dysfunction in the cervical neuromuscular and sensorimotor systems as a basis for therapeutic exercise in the rehabilitation of neck disorders. Professor Jull has published extensively in the field with approximately 300 publications, 3 books, and 40 book chapters. Professor Jull is a Fellow of the Australian College of Physiotherapists and a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist.
