Event description

Description

Overview:

The Social Enterprise World Forum (SEWF) is the principle international forum for social enterprise, and an event of choice for social entrepreneurs, policy-makers, community leaders, philanthropists, corporate supporters, researchers, and impact investors.

The theme for SEWF 2017 will be: ‘Ka koroki te manu - Creating our tomorrow’. Ka koroki te manu is a Māori concept that speaks of the early morning birdsong calling in and welcoming the new day. It reflects a positive framing of Christchurch’s reconstruction, and encapsulates the intent of social entrepreneurs across the world, while also offering a collective call to action to drive innovation.

In addition to the core programme, SEWF 2017 will offer targeted events like this one to key stakeholder groups that leverage the international expertise present at the Forum, and create linkages offered by it.

For investors, philanthropists, professional service providers, and social enterprises interested in impact investment, we will be holding an Impact Investment Breakfast.

The event will be attended by invitation only, for 100-150 participants, and hosted by EY, JBWere, Philanthropy New Zealand, and Ākina Foundation.

The Impact Investment Breakfast will feature:

  • Presentation of a new publication capturing the opportunity for New Zealand

  • Initial findings from a demand-side market research study

  • Launch of the ‘Impact Investment Network’ (IIN) and roadmap to further develop New Zealand’s market.

  • Complementary impact investment content will also feature within the core programme (http://www.sewf2017.org).

Intended outcomes

Participants gain:

  1. Insights on the nature of impact investment and the size of the potential opportunity globally, and in New Zealand

  2. Insights on effective investment practice and the requirements of New Zealand social enterprises seeking investment

  3. The opportunity to be connected to a community of interest and party to a significant development in New Zealand’s impact investment market.
