Event description
Understanding the influences on and of sustainability accounting

About this Event

Professor Charl De Villiers, Professor of Accounting at The University of Auckland Business School, presents an overview of a literature review of the 444 sustainability accounting papers published in the top accounting journals from 2014 to 2018. This review is used to construct a conceptual framework that depicts what influences sustainability accounting and what it, in turn, influences.

The framework recognises interrelationships within and among six main components: stakeholder engagement, internal practices, sustainability performance, reporting and assurance, accountability and legitimacy. The framework helps understand the determinants and consequences of each component and can be used to develop research ideas.
