Event description
Wellington Palestine invite you to join us in commemorating United Nations International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

About this Event

Since 1977 the United Nations has called on all member states to observe the 29th of November as a day of international solidarity with the Palestinian people. Wellington Palestine warmly welcomes you to join us in a demonstration of Kiwi solidarity with Palestine.

The Palestinian people need our support and solidarity now, more than ever. The continuing human rights abuses committed by the Israeli state against them include:

  • the devastating and illegal blockade, by land and by sea, of Gaza
  • threats to annex Palestinian territory in the West Bank and the Jordan valley
  • a daily catalogue of human rights abuses including the routine imprisonment of Palestinian children by military courts.

Solidarity day is just one way to promote the inalienable human rights of the Palestinian people including:

  • their right to self-determination without external interference
  • their right to national independence and sovereignty and
  • their right to return to their homes and property from which they have been displaced.

Our event will include speakers from Aotearoa and overseas (by video) discussing why solidarity is important and what we can do to show our solidarity with the Palestinian people.
