Date and time
Description
The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in New Zealand warmly invites you to the screening of “Who’s Gonna Love Me Now?”
This will take place on Saturday, 9 December at 4:00pm in Wellington.
Venue: Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision, 84 Taranaki Street
The Dutch Embassy screens this documentary to raise awareness for International Human Rights Day, celebrated on 10 December. We hope to open people’s eyes to human rights and social justice through the power of film.
The award-winning documentary describes Saar Maoz’s story as a gay man growing up on a kibbutz in Israel. When his family finds out about his sexual preference, he flees to London. After almost 20 years of living abroad, he finds the strength to face his family again, with the support of his friends from the London Gay Men’s Chorus. Saar’s journey of healing old wounds by overcoming prejudice and fear makes for a sensitive documentary.
The Ambassador of the Netherlands, Rob Zaagman, will give opening remarks. Please also join us after the screening. Member of Parliament Louisa Wall will give a speech about her experience with submitting a bill to the private member’s bill ballot to legalise same-sex marriage in New Zealand in May 2012. There will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.
