This introductory workshop will be facilitated by Moea Armstrong, who has facilitated Treaty and anti-racism workshops since 1991. Moea is a fifth generation Pākehā with a passion for celebrating the promise of the Treaty, and cultural relationships in Aotearoa, through addressing our historical legacy. We have received great feedback from Moea's sessions, and are thankful to continue working with her.
Introduction to Te Tiriti o Waitangi will cover:
- Context - the factors which led to the signing
- He Wakaputanga - the Declaration of Independence
- Te Tiriti o Waitangi - the two texts
- Reasons for legitimacy of Maori text
This event will be running online via zoom for 3 hours with a break mid-session.
