Event description
A workshop showcasing the traditional Māori game Ki-O-Rahi.

About this event

This year's NZ International Science Festival theme is reconnection. For us here at Te Koronga the game of Ki-O-Rahi has helped us reconnect to Māori modes of physical activity. It has also reconnected us to many schools over this year as we have taken Ki-O-Rahi around Dunedin high schools, playing the game with more than 300 kids to date.

For this event we will be blending western and indigenous science and applying that within the game of Ki-O-Rahi.

This workshop is weather dependent. A rain date has been set for 14 July. Participants who have booked a ticket will be notified of any changes due to weather as soon as a decision can be made.

Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

This event is part of the 2021 New Zealand International Science Festival. For the full event schedule, visit scifest.org.nz
