Event description

Description

Self-compassion is strongly linked to improved emotional wellbeing, with emerging evidence also suggesting positive effects on physical health. Self-compassion is a skill that can be learned by anyone, bringing a greater sense of ease and happiness and enabling one to ”breathe underwater” when life feels overwhelming.

In this introductory workshop you will:

  • experience self-kindness and learn why it matters
  • learn tools for better self-care and the prevention of compassion fatigue
  • learn how to manage difficult emotions and stress using mindfulness and self-compassion

Presenter: Dr Anna Friis.

Dr. Anna Friis is a health psychologist and a certified teacher of Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) having trained with its international founders Drs Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer. She is regularly invited to speak on how mindfulness and self-compassion can protect against burn-out and increase resilience in both business and health care environments. Blending scientific evidence with real world examples, audiences can expect a lively mix of the latest research and practical tools for practising self-compassion. Anna has a Ph.D in health psychology and M.Sc (Hons). She is also a trained journalist and has had a substantial career in corporate public relations, specialising in crisis management.

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are included in the cost.

Numbers are limited – Please register early if you do not want to miss out.
