About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

We're collecting feedback on three pieces of work that we'll be delivering to government at the end of this year, and we want to hear from you!

Connecting with and hearing from rangatahi is a priority that will help shape this important mahi. This event is for people aged 18–24 to discuss this work together, share kai, have your questions answered and share your thoughts.

This workshop is a hybrid event: You can join us online from anywhere across the motu, or if you’re in Wellington, register to join us in-person (limited in-person spaces available). Wherever you are, we would love to see you there!

About this mahi

At He Pou a Rangi Climate Change Commission, our role is to provide independent advice to the government on climate change issues. We’re asking for public feedback on three pieces of advice that relate to Aotearoa New Zealand’s emissions reduction target and emissions budgets. Consultation is open till 31 May, and your kōrero at this workshop is part of that consultation.

The purpose of these three pieces of advice is to help chart Aotearoa New Zealand’s path to a resilient low emissions society and economy. This will provide a mix of opportunities, benefits, challenges and costs. The effects – good and bad – will be felt by all of us.

We invite young people aged 18–24 to come together, learn about what this work means and share their thoughts.

We know that people are at the heart of policy, and this includes rangatahi. Having your input is vital for developing robust advice that reflects people of all ages and backgrounds across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Your insights will help us assess if the country's current emissions budgets and target align with the views of you and your peers about a climate-resilient future.

The three pieces of work we're consulting on are:
