About this Event

Hidden among the bustle of busy motorways and inner city streets is Auckland’s oldest cemetery set in a secret garden of wild bush and streams. Explore the stories of the past through a guided walk visiting the graves of New Zealand’s founding families.

Learn about the many communities represented in the burial grounds, including Catholic, Anglican, Jewish, Presbyterian, Methodist and Māori.

Presented by Friends of Symonds Street Cemetery and Karangahape Road Business Association and supported by Auckland Council.
