The Kupe Leadership Scholarship, whilst open to all, presents a unique opportunity for emerging Māori and Pacific postgraduate students across Aotearoa New Zealand. This scholarship offers material support for prospective applicants undertaking full-time, postgraduate study - PGDip, Honours or Masters - at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland in 2023. Kupe scholars engage in a leadership development programme and one-on-one mentoring to strengthen the capability and capacity of agentive leaders in Māori and Pacific communities. Recipients receive a stipend of $22,000 (or a $10,000 stipend plus on-campus studio accommodation).
As past and current Māori and Pacific recipients of the scholarship, we would like to welcome you and your whānau/aiga to join us on Tuesday 25 August, 5pm to 6pm via Zoom for a panel discussion facilitated by Professor Tracey McIntosh (Ngāi Tūhoe). The aim of this discussion is to demystify the application and selection process, share our experiences and respond to any pātai you might have. Please feel free to bring your friends, whānau/aiga, snacks and kōrero.
Applications for the scholarship will close on Thursday 25 August at midday. As past and current recipients, we want to offer any insight, support or advice we can provide to ensure you are informed and confident moving forward in this process.
Registration is essential for attendance and to submit questions. You will be sent the Zoom link to the talanoa 2 days before the event. There will be time after the panel to respond to questions.
