Event description
WRaP invites staff from the Faculty of Education and Social Work to a presentation and workshop: Leadership for workplace wellbeing

About this Event

In recent years, evidence has emerged of excessive stress on human service and knowledge workers to which organisational factors have contributed or even caused. These factors include organisational restructuring; the drive towards greater efficiencies, effectiveness and economies; and workplace bullying. These stressors may produce mental distress among workers and a dysfunctional or toxic environment, contributing to staff resignations, burnout, and even self harm and suicide. The consequences are not confined to individual workers: organisations and service recipients lose the knowledge, skills and practice wisdom of affected practitioners.

A research project has been developed with an overarching goal to develop a model of leadership for workplace wellbeing, designed to address the consequences of workplace dysfunctionality and toxicity. The purpose of the model will be to enable and promote a seminal change of culture which values workers at all organisational levels and creates healthy workplaces.

The Faculty of Education and Social Work is one of four sites participating in the project. This interactive workshop presents findings from the Faculty and invites your reflection and further discussion on these.
