Learning to Think, Thinking to Learn - Hamilton
Wed 7 June 2017, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM NZST
Developing lifelong, independent, critical thinkers is a daily challenge. Ownership of learning, by kids, for kids is an ongoing task for us all.
When students enter school at 5 years old they are quite independent in their thinking and capable of making decisions that impact on themselves. In my experience some students lose this capability and by Year 6 they struggle to think independently. They have difficulty making decisions about their learning and lack the capacity to think through situations. In this session I will share some of the strategies I have found successful to empower students in my class to become self-directed in their learning by thinking for themselves.
