Event description

Description

Activator is back in November and it's our last event of the year! We'd like to celebrate the success of the speaker series so far and do something fun and creative.

Daisy Lavea-Timo will lead an interactive session featuring different forms of creative practices. This free and public event will take you on an artistic journey exploring the processes of ideation, co-creation and innovation through the arts. Practitioners have inter-disciplinary experiences in a range of art forms. An opportunity to discover your own creative leadership and how to contribute to a wider dialogue of collective purpose.

1. Hatesa Seumanutafa - Sculptor and Museum Collection technician

2. John Ross - Cinematographer

3. Shannon Thompson - Fashion Designer

4. Judah Band - Musicians (Bass, Guitar, Keys and Drums)

About the Facilitator:

Daisy Lavea-Timo is a poet, rugby league prop and producer. A black and white Samoan lens converges and in those thousand shades of grey, Daisy recently spoke at TEDxChristchurch exploring what it means to be a straddler of worlds: a kiwi-born, fluent-Samoan speaking and traditional tattoo-wielding Matai/Chief.

Crowned as the 2017 New Zealand Slam Poetry Champion, she believes in the power of words and holding the vā/spaces for people to share their own stories. Daisy’s poetry ciphers around talanoa/dialogues about identity, purpose and leadership.

What is Activator?

The LinC Project is excited to launch the Activator component this year to further support community leaders across Canterbury with a speaker series aimed at inspiring and growing leaders in their communities.

What Is The LinC Project?

Building communities through supporting local leaders.

The LinC Project started as a 10-month, strengths-based leadership programme for 40+ individuals from communities across Greater Christchurch in 2014. The second group began in December 2015, with 35 leaders from ‘community organisations’ and 10 leaders from Government organisations. In 2018 the LinC project becomes LinC Incubator, LinC Cultivator and Activator.

The intention of LinC is to support and sustain these leaders, their colleagues and their wider communities.
