Join artist Sudi Dargipour for a hands-on linocut printmaking workshop, inspired by the ‘storytelling through making’ explored in PUPURITIA: Storytelling and Contemporary Textiles.

In this session, you’ll carve your own block to create unique motifs that reflect the power of storytelling, then use your block for textile printing.

No prior experience is necessary. Spaces are limited, so be sure to book your spot.

Tickets are $30.00, and all materials will be provided. Feel free to bring your own clothing, tote bags, or paper, though extra supplies will be available on the day.

Sudi Dargipour is an Iranian-Kiwi artist and Psychologist born and raised in Esfahan, the heart of Iran’s artistic heritage. Sudi first studied fine art with a focus on Persian rug-making before continuing her studies in psychology. Having lived in New Zealand for over 14 years, it has become Sudi’s second home – at times, in her words, her only home.

Sudi’s work blends art and psychology, using storytelling as a tool for healing and understanding. As a weaver and rug maker, she draws on Iran’s rich textile traditions, where love, resistance, and history are woven into fabric. Lately, she explored Farsi calligraphy and embroidery, transforming language into a visual form that speaks beyond words and borders.

Sudi says, “Art is a safe space to sit with emotions, to embrace them. It can be painful, even revolutionary, but always eye-opening. Through motifs, shapes, and stitches, I create spaces where stories unfold, inviting reflection, connection, and transformation.”
