In New Zealand, lung cancer causes more deaths than any other cancer, more than breast, prostate and melanoma combined. More than 1800 New Zealanders die from lung cancer each year. The reason that lung cancer has such a high mortality is that 74% of the patients present with advanced lung cancer on initial diagnosis (Cancer Research Trust , NZ).
Symptoms of lung cancer are varied and supporting people with advanced disease requires a holistic approach.
This workshop will look at
Understanding lung cancers and treatment options
Best practice symptom management
