Mahuru Māori – Kōrero Mai Series

About this event

Please note: our Kōrero Mai Series sessions will take place as scheduled under Alert Level 1. Sessions will not take place at Alert Level 2 or above. Therefore, if we are still in Alert Level 2 when this event is to be scheduled, it will be cancelled.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause

Join us on a voyage of discovery this year with our Mahuru Māori – Kōrero Mai Series. Each session is a building block of knowledge with the aim of improving one’s pronunciation and confidence within te reo Māori.

Kōrero Mai – Session One (Thursday, 23 September)

The first session will open with a quick kōrero around the meaning and significance of Mahuru Māori, then will journey into the basic pronunciation guidance, modelling and application of te reo Māori. To help reinforce the correct pronunciation of local place names and landmarks, a local traditional story will be incorporated

Ko Wai Au? – Session Two (Thursday, 30 September)

Our second session extends on the pronunciation and basic vocabulary building, where we will then learn how to formally introduce ourselves in Māori with ‘Ko wai au?’.

The two sessions can be attended independently as a stand-alone learning experience however, to get the most out of the sessions it is best to attend the two as a progressive learning programme.

So, jump on board and ‘hoea te waka!’
