Making Sense of the Treaty in a Research Context Pt1. Webinar. Tuesday 30th July 2024, 9h30am - 12h30pm

Do you want to build your knowledge in Responsiveness to Māori in your research? This seminar will provide a general overview of the Treaty of Waitangi as it relates to research.

The content focuses on why it was written, what it says, what went wrong and where we are today.

The seminar is a good fit for you if:

2. Are encountering the relationship between the Treaty and doing research for the first time, whether you are new to New Zealand or not.

3. You would like a refresher of Treaty foundations and how it relates to research.

Join us for this informative session presented by Christine Herzog who has facilitated more than a thousand Treaty and related workshops, for central and local government departments and other large institutions, for community groups, and for the general public. She has also undertaken consultancy and research relating to application of the Treaty in organisations. She was a founding member of Auckland Project Waitangi and continues to be active in Tamaki Treaty Workers. Christine supported Ngāti Tamaoho Trust, a Waiohua hapu, through eight years of their Treaty claims negotiations and is now kaiwhakahaere of Te Tai-awa o te Ora Trust, a kaupapa Māori social services organisation based in south Auckland.

Audience: Open to UoA doctoral candidates, researchers and research support staff interested in learning more about the Treaty in research as an overview.
