Event description
A one-day wānanga that presents a Māori model of practice, highlighting fundamental aspects important for Māori wellness and interactions.

About this Event

MANAAKI TANGATA is Day 1 of the Manaaki Ora (2-day) Marae-based wānanga. This day covers oranga (wellbeing) practices for working with whānau Māori, with a particular focus on understanding tikanga and practices as a way of early intervention to prevent crisis (such as self-harm and suicide). MANAAKI TANGATA provides an opportunity for participants to build upon knowledge skills, and capability from Te Ao Māori .

As a pre-requisite to this wānanga, please ensure you complete the Tangata Ihi on-line module as part of your registration before attending the face to face wānanga.

*PLEASE NOTE:

*This course will be run in a bi-lingual format, therefore, although not essential, previous knowledge in Te Reo Māori would be an advantage.

**Registrations are essential as spaces are limited. Please notify us early if your circumstances change and you cannot make it to the wānanga.

Who is this for? Hauora providers, iwi, marae, Non-government Organisations, Māori community networks and whānau champions - anyone wanting to engage positively with Māori individuals and whānau to promote wellbeing.
