Manaaki Ora is a wānanga, developed utilising Kaumātua and mātauranga Māori knowledge, to share ways of reducing suicidality for Māori. These wānanga are for kaimahi in the health sector who work with whānau māori and are wanting to learn Māori approaches to reduce suicide.

There are four areas to this wānanga

  1. Manaaki Tāngata - How to work with whānau Māori
  2. Tangata Ihi - Oranga & Emotional Distress - Māori suicide Prevention
  3. Mihi Whakaora - Working through grief
  4. Puāwai Kahurangi - The Healing Flower

Organised by

Programmes such as Tiaki Whānau, Tiaki Ora are designed to build healthy whānau by increasing their awareness of risk factors to suicide and building strategies that will strengthen whānau resilience and wellbeing.

The Centre of Māori Suicide Prevention also offer a range of Cultural Training to workers working with wh`anau Māori to support practices that are culturally responsive and promote appropriate engagement.
