Description

Managing Performance - from Appraisals to Poor Performance

Join us for this workshop on August 23rd from 9am to 12pm.

Is the annual appraisal the only time you manage the performance of your team or should it form part of a bigger, more cohesive performance plan? The answer should be a resounding ‘yes it should!’

Learn how to get the best out of your people and protect your business... all in one workshop! Learn what to consider when undertaking an appraisal process, how to embed effective ongoing performance management within your business and how to effectively manage poor performance.

The annual appraisal can be dreaded by employer and employee alike; learn how to make ongoing performance management part of your culture of high performance and open communication. You'll also come away with a clear understanding of how to manage staff members who bring you more heartache than joy.

Our session covers:

  • The performance management framework
  • The link between job descriptions, KPIs, individual career development and ongoing performance management
  • The difference between performance management and performance improvement frameworks
  • Conducting an effective appraisal and performance development review
  • How to encourage honest feedback from your employees, providing constructive feedback and methods for regularly recording/monitoring progress
  • Determining if what you're seeing is poor performance
  • The steps to manage poor performance and giving warnings
  • How to have courageous conversations with poor performers

Arm yourself with the skills needed to create a performance culture in your team or business and to manage poor performance effectively to ensure better outcomes for everyone.

This is a short and intimate session with likeminded leaders, managers and business owners, where you’ll have the opportunity to take learnings straight back to the workplace.

Facilitated by Alicia Meyer, Senior HR Consultant

After beginning my career as a Personal Assistant, I took the opportunity to combine my administrative skills with my passion for people, and my career in HR began. With a National Diploma in Human Resource Management and 7 years’ experience in HR and recruitment, I’ve enjoyed building up a breadth of knowledge working in a number of medium to large organisations in New Zealand.

I was drawn to the POD philosophy and am excited to be part of a positive, results-focused culture.

My time outside of work is kept busy with my husband, three children and two dogs. I love the outdoors and spend a lot of time getting out of the city, hunting and camping with the family.
