Event description
Hui Taumata Tuarua o Aotearoa mō te Whakaiti Tūraru Aituā

About this event

After a series of natural hazard disaster losses over the last decade, there is renewed impetus for disaster risk reduction initiatives to be higher on local and national agendas, and to see more science and evidence-based policy driving effective risk management.

This symposium aims to look at some of the key mechanisms for managing risk: how we can tackle gaps and barriers and build on our strengths, to create a safer, more resilient nation. The symposium will focus on participation, with the aim of using the collective expertise of the delegates to set out a plan to achieve what's missing in the short, medium, and long term.

I muri mai o ētahi ngarohanga aituā matepā taiao i te tekau tau ka hipa, kua whakahouhia te kaha o ngā whakaaro whakaiti tūraru aituā kia teitei ake i roto i ngā kaupapa ā-rohe, ā-motu hoki, ā, me te kite i ngā kaupapahere i poua ki te pūtaiao me ngā taunakitanga e kōkiri ana i ngā whakahaeretanga tūraru whai hua.

E whai ana tēnei hui taumata ki te tiro ki ētahi o ngā āhuatanga matua mō te whakahaere tūraru: me pēhea tā tātou whakakapi i ngā āputa me ngā āraitanga, me te whakapakari i ō rātou kaha, ki te hanga i tētahi iwi haumaru ake, mārohi ake hoki. Ka arotahi tēnei hui taumata ki te whakaurunga, me te whai anō ki te whakamahi i ngā tōpūtanga mōhiotanga o ngā tarikete ki te whakatakoto mahere e tutuki ai i tērā e ngaro ana i roto i ngā hononga, ngā rangapūtanga me ngā whatunga poto, wā wawaenga, wā roa hoki.
