About this event
Welcome to the Manganoe Farm Walk & Horse Trek supporting the East Coast Rural Support Trust!
Join us for a fun-filled day at 175 Waihau Road where you can explore the beautiful countryside and help the Rural Support Trust to continue supporting our people and communities.
There will be two walking/riding tracks available to choose from on the day:
- a 14km loop
- a shorter 8km "Sunday Funday Frolic"
Both routes will see you across rolling farmland and through stands of native bush (spot the kereru, tuis, bellbirds and karearea), with some steeper (but quick!) climbs up farm tracks, with views for miles across beautiful Hawkes Bay and a full panorama of the Kaweka Range.
There will be a staggered start between horse riders and walkers to ensure everyone's safety and comfort - please see the agenda for more details.
Puketapu School will have coffee and slices, cakes and bakes availble for sale before your jaunt (cash only please) and your ticket includes a burger hot off the Rural Support Trust grill upon completion of the walk.
WALKERS:
You will require a reasonable level of fitness, great walking or trail shoes, walking poles if you like, warm/weather protective clothing and a backpack with water and any snacks you would like - for those rambling over the full loop, we will have a water filling station halfway should you need it. All children need to be fully supervised by a parent or caregiver and must remain with them at all times. Please no dogs/pets. Please park in the designated "walker parking" - marshals will direct you.
HORSE RIDERS:
Helmets are compulsary. You will need to bring your own water for washing/drinking as this won't be available sorry. Horses who require "space" are to wear a red ribbon on their tail - we will have this available at sign in. Riders under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult rider. There will be water crossings and a reasonable level of confidence is required. Please park in the designated "horse parking" - marshals will direct you.
