Description

THE MĀORI MOVEMENT EXPERIENCE WANANGA (WORKSHOP) SCOPE

The Māori Movement Experience is a unique approach to health and wellbeing by bringing together traditional Māori warrior training (both male and female) into a modern interpretation.

The fitness and movement system is based around the knowledge of Atua (Māori Gods) to inspire the connection to each of the movement sequences. During the event, participants will be exposed to concepts such as:

TINANA (Physical Health) -The physical capacity of growth and development. For Māori the physical dimension is just one aspect of health and well-being and cannot be separated from the aspect of mind, spirit and family.

WAIRUA (Spiritual Health) - The capacity for faith and wider communication. The spiritual essence of a person is their life force. This determines us as individuals and as a collective, who and what we are, where we have come from and where we are going.

HINENGARO (Mental Health) - The capacity to communicate, to think and to feel mind and body are inseparable. Thoughts, feelings and emotions are integral components of the body and soul. This is about how we see ourselves in this universe, our interaction with that which is uniquely Māori and the perception that others have of us.

WHANAU (Family Health) - The capacity to belong, to care and to share where individuals are part of wider social systems. Whānau provides us with the strength to be who we are. This is the link to our ancestors, our ties with the past, the present and the future.

WANANGA SPAN: 16 hours spread over 2 days, 9:00AM - 18:00PM on Saturday 21st April and 09:00AM - 16:00PM on Sunday 22nd April with scheduled lunch breaks on both days.

INSTRUCTION: All events are led by the Māori Movement Team with the presence and facilitation of Beez Ngarino Te Waati

OTHERS: Please bring kai (food) for a shared lunch. (Preferably healthy options). Make sure to bring with you: a water bottle, notebook & pen and loose fitting clothes suitable for movement. Attendance conditional upon MM-Sydney Wananga signing. No refunds will be provided.

Unfortunately they don’t have a system for installment payments.

How long should I stay in town after the workshop?

If you have the flexibility to stay in town for a few extra days after the workshop (perhaps until Tuesday or Wednesday), you'll probably be glad you did. Attendees are often surprised at how quickly and easily they make new friends at the workshop, and they love being able to immerse themselves in all that positive social energy for an extra day or two. Many people have rescheduled flights and extended their trips because they didn't want to leave so soon. It's common for attendees to get together in small groups and independently arrange fun social activities after each workshop.

What should I wear to the workshop?

Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable

What do I need to bring to the workshop?

- Food for shared lunch

- A change of training clothes

- Water bottle

What's the refund policy after I register for the workshop?

Your registration is non-refundable, so there are no refunds or exchanges on tickets once purchased

Can I attend only part of the workshop (and pay a lower registration price)?

No, Maori Movement workshops are designed to be experienced in their entirety, we suggest that you plan to be there for every day as the information is shared through a progressive learning style.

Can I decline an exercise or activity if I choose to?

Yes, we encourage participants to give it a go as workshops include a variety of different exercises and will be scaled accordingly. Please let Beez know if you carry any injuries beforehand.

Will the workshop be recorded?

It's possible, in which case the recordings may be used for a variety of purposes, including social media updates and/or creating new products. The workshops are meant to be live, interactive experiences. If we do a workshop that will be recorded, it will be announced in advance, so everyone knows that up front.

Can I record the workshop (audio or video)?

Yes - the physical aspects of the workshop are fine but please don't record the group discussions as people often share intimate details of their lives at these events.

Do I need to know the Māori Movement Syllabus material before I attend a workshop?

No, in fact you don’t even have to know anything māori to get Māori Movement Experience. However feel free to get acquainted with the online māori movement web series, http://www.maorimovement.co.nz/ it will only add to your learning.

Are there plans to do workshops in other cities/countries?

Yes, we are heading to Brisbane, Gold Coast, Perth and New Castle in the next 6months.

Is there an affiliate program for this workshop?

Yes, we have planned a tour to Australia in 2019. The focus is to deliver our affiliate programme and certify people with a level 1 practitioner’s certificate. This will enable them to teach and share Māori Movement throughout the world.
