🎬 French film with English subtitles
Join us for the first screening of our new Mardi Cinéma cycle, celebrating the visionary work of acclaimed French director Alain Resnais. Known for his bold storytelling and philosophical explorations, Resnais invites us to reflect on memory, identity, and the human condition. Over the next three months, we’ll showcase three of his most influential films—starting with the thought-provoking Mon oncle d’Amérique (1980).
🎥 Mon oncle d’Amérique
Blending fiction and scientific theory, this unique film weaves together the lives of three characters—Jean, Janine, and René—intertwined with the research of real-life behavioral scientist Henri Laborit. As the characters navigate ambition, love, and adversity, Resnais uses cinematic storytelling to explore how unconscious mechanisms drive our actions. Both cerebral and emotionally rich, Mon oncle d’Amérique is a masterful blend of cinema and science, and a landmark in Resnais’ career.
